No Breakfast On The 19th This Month
There will not be a breakfast at the Lodge on April 19th. It has been moved to the 26th to coincide with the Fellowcraft Degree we will be having that morning. Plan on coming to a good degree and having a good breakfast.
History Of Indian Land #414 Presented
Worshipful Brother John Griffin presented a history of the beginning of Indian Land Masonic Lodge and of the Lodge building. As always, John did a wonderful job and managed to enlighten us all.
I have now finished transcribing all of WB John's notes and they are available for download by clicking here. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader which is available for free from www.adobe.com
For something very special, click this link. It will take you to a website where you can purchase a full color bound copy of the notes complete with all of the pictures included. I haven't asked him yet, but I bet if you buy one Brother John will autograph it for you! I have the price set at cost, so nobody is making any money from it.
New Flagpole On The Way
It was voted on by the brothers present to buy a new flag pole for the lodge. The new flag pole will have an internal halyard and will be lighted. It was also voted that the flagpole will be paid for by donations from the members of Indian Land Masonic Lodge and their families. If you make a donation your name will be recorded in the Flag Pole Memory Book along with the name of the person you are making the donation in honor/memory of. If you donate $100 or more, your name will be added to the "Memory Board" which will be on display in the Lodge. For more details please contact Brother Ed Cook.
Work Going On Around The District
Below is a list of work going on around the 22nd Masonic District. Why not get out and visit with your Brothers and see a good degree.
The Masters and Wardens Club
I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the Masters and Wardens Club is not just for Masters and Wardens. Meetings are open to all Master Mason's and everyone is urged to attend. It is a great way to keep up with what is going on around the district and the state. The next meeting of the M&W Club will be on April 28th at Palmetto #285 in Sharon. Dinner will be served at 6:30 and the meeting will start at 7:30
Perception Problem
Have you ever been approached by someone who knows that you are a Mason who has a negative perception of the fraternity? We all have. These well meaning people often get there information from some website that has it out for the Craft or from one of those horrible TV shows on the History Channel.
Well, recently Mr. Terry R. Cromer of Columbia, South Carolina wrote a "Letter to the Editor" of the Baptist Courier in which he complained about the coverage of a "Masonic Recognition Day" that was held at Padgetts Creek Baptist Church.
Most Worshipful Brother Jerry Carver, Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of South Carolina, has written what has to be one of the most eloquent and educational responses I have ever read. Please Click Here to read the letter and the response.
Are You A Ham Radio Operator?
If you are, I have two links for you to check out.
Hiram's Hams is a group of Mason hams that conducts a variety of nets including a weekly 20meter Masonic Fellowship Net. For more information Click Here.
The other site is The Masonic Gathering. They host a weekly roundtable on both eQSO and Echolink at 9:30pm (EST). It last about an hour or so and is always filled with good fellowship and information. Click Here to go to the website.
Masonic Videos On The Web
I have been looking around and have found several interesting video clips on the web concerning Freemasonry. The following 3 links will take you videos that I have found on www.youtube.com.
"Is There Greatness In You?" A 30 second commercial designed to be aired on TV
"What Is Freemasonry?" A 9:20 presentation About Freemasonry
"What It Means To Be A Mason" A 15:04 presentation on just what the title says. Made by MA Grand Lodge.
